Karie Nero is Principal and Chief Financial Officer at LRC Properties and Co-Founder of Helm Property Management & Services, LLC.
Karie is a senior financial and commercial real estate executive with more than 25 years of experience of providing fiscal, strategic and operational leadership. She leads LRC and Helm and oversees acquisitions, asset management, property management, development and finance. She has extensive experience in financial analysis, business planning, establishing policies and procedures, financial reporting, financial/accounting due diligence, cash management, and audit.
Prior to joining LRC, Karie held various finance positions at GE Capital, HBO, Primedia (a Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) company) and Price Waterhouse, LP. During this timeframe, Karie successfully contributed to the acquisitions of several companies ranging from $6M-$200M, managed and led finance teams, streamlined financial reporting processes, solicited and coordinated numerous revenue generating consulting projects.
Karie is a graduate of The School of Business at the University of Connecticut and has a BA in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant. (inactive status)

Edward J. Kulik

Edward (Ed) Kulik is Co-Founder and a Principal at LRC Properties and Helm Property Management & Services, LLC.
A highly respected industry veteran, Ed has an extensive background which includes asset and property management, leasing, operations, development, financing and construction. His experience covers all types of properties, including office, hospitality, residential, industrial, retail and unique recreational (marinas, golf course, cruise ship terminals, etc.). Ed has earned the reputation of taking under-performing assets or portfolios and turning them into extremely profitable investments including some of the largest privately owned buildings in the country. Ed’s expertise has also been highlighted by his ability to properly manage assets and properties by achieving maximum efficiency and performance.
Prior to co-founding LRC Properties, Ed held senior positions in prestigious companies including Silverstein Properties, Jones Lang LaSalle (one of the largest international real estate firms) and the Retirement Systems of Alabama. Ed has successfully taken an underperforming $1 billion portfolio and grown it three fold with healthy returns in excess of 17%. In addition, he has successfully managed more than 9 million square feet of commercial property in New York City’s prestigious Financial District, established two management companies – one for hospitality and the other for commercial assets – and leased over 30 million square feet of commercial space. Throughout his career, Ed has been extensively involved in repositioning distressed real estate, working closely with major lending institutions and investors to develop property specific programs which resulted in successful “turn around” investments for both owner and lender.
Ed’s experience also includes some very unique deals/investments. He is credited with putting together one of the largest tracts of upland and submersible land for a large multi-use project in the Florida Keys and working very closely with the city of Mobile to develop a major cruise ship terminal which substantially increased tourism to the city. Teams led by Ed have also been credited with highly successful major deals, including taking the second largest privately owned building in the country (3.8 million square feet) from a vacancy of 60% to full and being named “Marriott’s Developer of The Year.”

Laura Bowers

Laura Bowers is the Property Manager for both 4500 Leeds Avenue and Ashley Overlook located in Charleston, South Carolina. Laura began her career in the restaurant industry rising to Director of Purchasing and Project Manager, building restaurants in three states. In her twenty years with the restaurant group, she was known for cultivating vendor and customer relationships. Prior to joining LRC properties, Laura was the CEO of Boone Hall for ten years where she oversaw all operations on the 800-acre property including: tourism, farming, and events.
As a Charleston native she enjoys the lifestyle that only Charleston can offer such as boating, shrimping and year-round tennis.

Michael Galante Jr.

Michael Galante Jr. is a Senior Accountant at LRC Properties.
Michael has over 10 years of experience in real estate with a background in accounting and management.
Prior to joining LRC Properties, Michael was a Property Accountant and Junior Analyst for Brickman, a real estate owner-operator. During his ten-year tenure, he was responsible for accounting and monthly financial reporting, AP management, market analysis, and data management for active and prospect investments.

Chandler has over 13 years of experience in commercial real estate and specializes in Asset Management. Prior to joining LRC, Chandler worked with several owners/managers in Kentucky such as Nai Issac, Jones Lang LaSalle, Duane Realty & Development, and BC Wood Properties. Chandler is a veteran commercial Property Manager & Sales Associate with a demonstrated history of success working in the commercial real estate industry. Skilled in negotiation, tenant representation, disposition, leasing, construction & design, sustainable development, sales, facility management (FM), and sustainable design.
Chandler graduated from the University of Kentucky.

Angel Sotomayer

Angel Sotomayor is the Controller at Helm Properties.
Angel is a CPA with more than 11 years of experience in the real estate industry. He leads LRC and Helm accounting team in support of acquisitions, asset management, property management, development and finance. He has experience in financial analysis, property and investment accounting, establishing accounting policies and procedures, financial reporting, cash management, audit and tax.
Angel has held various accounting positions at multiple Real estate investment and property management companies and was a part of the Audit and Tax team at Berdon LLP. Prior to joining LRC Properties, Angel was the Accounting Manager at K5 Equities a real estate investment firm that also owned and operated properties.
Angel is a graduate of The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and has a BA in Accounting and a BA in Information Systems.

PRIOR TO JOINING HELM, HOLLY SPENT MANY YEARS WITH LINCOLN PROPERTY COMPANY SUBSIDIARY, LINCOLN HARRIS, IN ROLES RANGING FROM PROPERTY MANAGER TO VICE PRESIDENT OF PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. SHE HAS SERVED A VARIETY OF CLIENTS FROM LARGE INSTITUTIONAL INVESTMENT FIRMS TO INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS AND DEVELOPERS. Laury Wehunt

Laury Wehunt is the Assistant Property Manager for 4500 Leeds Avenue and the Savannah Properties Portfolio. Originally from Camden, S.C., she moved to Charleston where she earned her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston, and her master’s from The Citadel. Her first love has always been math and enjoyed teaching for 28 years. After a short stint of retirement, Laury ventured into real estate property management.
Falling in love with the low country while attending the College of Charleston, she decided to move back upon her retirement from teaching. Laury enjoys reading, walking, tennis, bridge, and sitting on Folly Beach!

Michael Fromm

Prior to working for Helm, Michael worked in commercial facilities maintenance for eight years, residential facilities maintenance for four years, and residential housing maintenance for 16 years. His most recent position, prior to Golden Belt, was River Front Towers in Detroit where he was the Facilities/Apartment Maintenance Supervisor for the Hayman Company. He was the acting Regional Maintenance Director (Eastern US) for the Hayman Company from 2008 to 2013.
Michael has a can-do-attitude and is always happy to take on any project. He takes great pride in his buildings and strives to ensure his tenants and residents are able to work and live in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
Michael has his HVAC 609 Refrigerant Universal Certification from Esco Institute, as well as being a Certified Pool Operator from the National Swimming Pool Foundation and he received a
Hazardous Materials Handling from USMC.

Theresa Gantress

Originally from Vermont, Theresa has been working at 4500 Leeds Ave for nineteen years. Because of her tenure, Theresa knows the Leeds building inside and out. Some of Theresa’s main responsibilities include painting, lighting, fire equipment upkeep and inspections.
Theresa is a car enthusiast and spends weekends going to car shows, her favorite being the Camaros and muscle cars.

Jerry Lee

Jerry Lee started his career in facilities maintenance with Cummins in North Carolina, working with them for ten years. He now oversees a talented group of three engineers that keeps the Leeds Avenue building running. From HVAC systems, chillers, to heavy equipment and much more Jerry has seen it all in his twenty-one years at Leeds. Fixing things is what Jerry does best which is why all of his life he’s been known as the “fixer”.
In his spare time, Jerry is a motorcycle and drag racing enthusiast and loves things that go fast but his true loves are his wife of 38 years and his two children and his grandson.

Casey Brown

Casey Brown is a Master Electrician working in Commercial and Industrial Plants installing high voltage and fiber optics. Before coming to Helm Property Management & Services, Casey was Maintenance Facility Manager for Borden Dairy for 10 years.
Casey Brown grew up in Biscayne Florida where in his youth worked on a wildlife reserve raising kangaroos, lions and his favorite a white tiger cub.
Casey enjoys spending time with his wife of 38 years, his daughter and grandson.
